Every step has a purpose. Every act of kindness matters.
If there’s one thing I’ve never been particularly good at, it’s asking for help.
There’s something uncomfortable about asking others to contribute to something that’s deeply personal to me. But this walk isn’t just about putting one foot in front of the other and covering 1,400 miles from Austin, Texas, to California. It’s about something much bigger than the distance.
It’s about challenging myself. About discovering what happens when we step away from the familiar, strip away some of the things we’ve come to depend on, and give ourselves the space to simply be.
It’s about mental health, human connection, and the things we carry that nobody else can see. It’s about reminding myself—and hopefully others—that we don’t have to have everything figured out to take the next step.
And it’s about doing something that once felt impossible.
I’ve attempted this walk before. I know what it feels like to start with a dream, push myself beyond what I was prepared for, and realize that sometimes the courage to begin isn’t enough. We also need preparation, patience, and a willingness to learn along the way.
So here I am again. A little wiser, a little more intentional, and still figuring things out.
Once again, I’m allowing myself to accept a little help along the way.
I’ve created this space because some people have asked how they can support the journey. Whether you’d like to contribute financially, help sponsor a portion of the walk, or simply offer some encouragement, I’ve included a few different options so you can choose whatever feels comfortable for you.
But I want to make something clear.
You don’t have to give money to be part of this.
A kind message. A word of encouragement. Sharing the project with someone who might connect with it. Rooting for me from wherever you are. These things matter, too.
I mean that.
I’m not doing this because I have all the answers. I’m doing it because I have questions, because I believe there’s value in stepping outside the lives we’ve grown accustomed to, and because sometimes we need to do something that reminds us we’re still capable of surprising ourselves.
If this journey resonates with you and you’d like to contribute financially, I’m incredibly grateful. Your generosity will help make the practical side of this undertaking a little more manageable, allowing me to focus on preparing for and completing the walk.
And if all you can offer is a little encouragement, please know that it is every bit as welcome.
There is no expectation, no obligation, and absolutely no pressure.
I’m simply opening the door for anyone who would like to walk alongside me in their own way.
Because maybe that’s part of what this journey is teaching me already: that independence doesn’t mean doing everything alone, and that accepting kindness doesn’t diminish the things we’re capable of doing for ourselves.
Sometimes, allowing others to be part of our journey is a strength of its own.
So, whether you contribute a dollar, share a few words, follow along from a distance, or simply wish me well, thank you.
Thank you for your interest, your encouragement, your generosity, and for taking a moment to understand what this means to me.
I don’t take any of it for granted.
I’ll be taking this journey one step at a time, and I’m grateful for every bit of kindness I encounter along the way.
Many directions. Infinite Nature. One center. Keep Noticing.
And if you happen to be rooting for me from somewhere out there?
I’ll be rooting for you, too.
